THANK YOU JUNEAU WE HAVE REACHED THE MATCH! As of November 22, 2011, the Juneau Community Foundation has received almost $15,000 in donations for the Glory Hole. These funds will be combined with the JCF donation of $10,000 and given to the Glory Hole. After learning about the Juneau Glory Hole budget deficit, the Juneau Community Foundation is coming to the rescue. Provided byFundraising Ideas Center JCF recognized that the Glory Hole has made great strides to reduce its overhead costs, in part through its rooftop garden and partnering with the UAS construction program. “But a great need still exists,” stated Sioux Douglas, President, “and we are pleased to offer some emergency funds that include an exciting matching opportunity for the greater community.” The challenge grant from JCF includes $5,000 from its own granting funds, and $5,000 from the Blackwell Fund, a donor-advised fund at JCF. JCF is challenging the community to collaborate in this short-term challenge to meet the immediate needs of the downtown Glory Hole soup kitchen and shelter. “With winter looming before us, the decrease in local donations, and the expiration of a $20,000 federal grant, the Glory Hole needs our support now, not later,” Douglas said. “This is a perfect time for our community to demonstrate its generosity, and what better way than a matching double-your-money opportunity.” JCF requests that contribution checks be made out to the Juneau Community Foundation, with Glory Hole written in the memo line, NO LATER THAN Thanksgiving, and mailed or hand-delivered to 350 North Franklin Street, Suite 4, Juneau 99801. For more information, call the JCF office, 523-5450. If you are donating to a specific fund, please include the name of the fund in the message area. |
