United Way of Southeast Alaska United Way of Southeast Alaska (UWSEAK) works to improve lives by organizing the caring power of our communities in Southeast Alaska. As a volunteer-driven, grass-roots organization, UWSEAK is committed to creating lasting change by bringing people and resources together to address local and regional issues. UWSEAK was incorporated in 1979 and still serves several original member agencies, such as: The Glory Hole, A.W.A.R.E., the Boy Scouts, and Hospice. UWSEAK currently has 33 partner agencies throughout Southeast Alaska, 25 of which provide services and jobs in Juneau.

UWSEAK has the unique ability to link donors with the issues that matter most to them. The agency focuses on four areas of care within the health and social service sector: meeting the basic needs of people in crisis; supporting the elderly and people with disabilities; promoting wellness and self-sufficiency; and helping children and youth succeed.

To better understand Juneau, UWSEAK recently conducted a community-wide perception survey called COMPASS II. The full report can be found on their website at: http://www.unitedwayseak.org.

Volunteer Opportunities:
The Volunteer Action Center (VAC), a new program of UWSEAK, is designed to serve the region’s communities by:
• connecting people with opportunities to    get involved in their communities;
• increasing their capacity and skills for    effective volunteering; and
• building broad awareness of the value of    volunteer contributions

Donor Opportunities:
UWSEAK currently has two special projects that need funding. These are:
• The Community Impact Program, which
   grants money to area non-profits for    programs and projects focused on making    real changes in our community.
• The Volunteer Action Center, which    provides volunteer opportunities for the    entire community. Software is needed to    complete an online database that is user    friendly, efficient, and effective.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, UWSEAK is an impeccable steward of resources, both financial and human. Please contact UWSEAK at (907) 463-5530 or staff@unitedwayseak.org, for more information about volunteer and donor opportunities.
