Capital Kennel Club of Juneau
Description: The Capital Kennel Club of Juneau (CKCOJ), established in 1989, promotes canine activities and encourages responsible dog ownership. In 1993, CKCOJ became affiliated with the United Kennel Club (UKC) in order to host licensed obedience trials. Twice a year, a weekend of trials is held, drawing both local and visiting exhibitors, and it is open to the public. CKCOJ dogs are involved in a variety of other activities such as tracking and agility, breed conformation shows, and therapy dog certification. CKCOJ is also active in community service via dog training classes, seminars, participating in locally sponsored dog functions, and the personal example of owning well-behaved dogs. New members are welcome and are asked to commit at least eight hours per year assisting in a club activity. This club runs totally on volunteer power! CKCOJ provides canine obedience classes, pet therapy, dog shows, seminars, clinics, information, newsletter, discounts, club library, and videotaping. Several different types of memberships are offered.
