Juneau Mountain Rescue
Description: Founded in 1982, Juneau Mountain Rescue, Inc. (JMR) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization specializing in high angle and backcountry search and rescue operations, which are available for State Trooper and other official call-out 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout Alaska. JMR is dedicated to the spirit that well trained and qualified volunteers are a necessary component of the emergency response system for search and rescue activities, urban disasters, and the emergency notifications system. JMR participates in joint training exercises with Eaglecrest Ski Patrol, Capital City Fire/Rescue Special Teams, the Alpine Club, Alaska National Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, City of Juneau Urban Avalanche Response Plan, Southeast Alaska Dogs Organized for Ground Search (SEADOGS), and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT/FEMA). JMR also provides outdoor safety and survival education for students and youth, as well as other members of the search and rescue community and civic organizations with an interest in outdoor activity.
