Discovery Southeast
Description: Every year, thousands of Southeast Alaskans – children and adults, students and teachers – embark with Discovery Southeast on learning adventures in the wilds of Southeast Alaska. Founded in 1989 as a nonprofit educational organization, Discovery Southeast has grown into the region's leading source for natural history and conservation education. Discovery Southeast bases its programs in hands-on learning about nature, natural science, and outdoor activity. School-based programs, adult and teacher workshops, summer camps, wilderness expeditions, and diverse publications aim to heighten knowledge of and regard for the lands and waters of Southeast Alaska; awaken natural curiosity and foster joy in nature through inquiry learning; encourage personal connection with the natural world; and promote attitudes and actions that reflect positive and respectful relationships with nature.
