Agency Advised Fund: Through an Agency Advised Fund, nonprofit organizations with 501 (c)(3) status can invest their endowments or reserve accounts in an investment pool with other nonprofit funds. The Agency Advised Fund is set up in the name of the agency and remains in control of that agency. Grants can be issued from the fund corpus or the agency can use the return on their investment to make grants or pay for general operations while keeping the principal in tact. Funds in this type of account remain the property of the agency and are revocable. The current annual fee for administration and financial asset management of an Agency Advised Fund is 1.0% of the fund total.

Donor Advised Fund: A Donor Advised Fund can be set up by anyone – an individual, a family, or a group of people. A gift of cash, appreciated stocks, real estate, or other assets is made and a special fund is set up in the donor's name or in honor of any person or organization the donor chooses. The gift is tax deductable in the year made to the extent allowed by federal law. We handle administrative and investment details. A Donor Advised Fund is a good way to give if you want to stay involved in the good works of your gift. The advisor/s to the fund can recommend the areas or organizations to support, and the grants are issued in the name of the fund you establish, or anonymously, if you prefer. Your gift can also be placed into an endowment that is invested over time. Earnings are used to make grants addressing community needs. In this way, your gift – and all future earnings of your gift – is a permanent source of community capital, doing good work forever. A Donor Advised Fund is a wonderful way to start a personal or family legacy of philanthropy, create a scholarship fund for a specific area of study, or establish a memorial fund to honor a loved one. The current annual fee for administration and financial asset management of a Donor Advised Fund is 1.5% of the fund total.

Field of Interest Fund: A Field of Interest Fund is a type of Donor Advised Fund where grants are specified to go to an area of interest, such as the arts, elder care, domestic abuse prevention, or animal welfare, instead of a specific organization. This enables the Foundation to grant consistently to the area/s of most importance to the donor regardless of whether the actual charitable agencies serving this cause come and go. This type of fund is popular with donors who feel passionately about a cause and want to continue to contribute to that cause far into the future. The current annual fee for administration and financial asset management of a Field of Interest Fund is 1.5% of the fund total.

Unrestricted Fund: An Unrestricted Fund is set up and managed similar to a Donor Advised Fund. The fund is given the name of your choice but instead of grants being directed by the fund’s advisors, grants are made by the Foundation board of directors and are based on the greatest community need. By maintaining knowledge of the needs and resources in Juneau and by keeping an open dialogue with nonprofits, the Foundation board will be able to direct grants in a wise and responsible manner. The current annual fee for administration and financial asset management of an Unrestricted Fund is 1.5% of the fund total.

Direct Contribution: A direct contribution to the Juneau Community Foundation is a gift that will help us make grants, fund community projects, help fund the costs of the Foundation's general operations, or help grow a permanent community endowment for the future. Like a Donor Advised Fund and an Unrestricted Fund, a direct contribution is tax deductible in the year it is made to the extent allowed by federal law. The Juneau Community Foundation's tax identification number is 52-2395867
