Skateboard Park Project

Pipeline Skate Park Special Project

Pipeline Skate Park Special Project

The Skate Board is a group of skateboarders volunteering to remodel the Pipeline Skate Park at the Jackie Renninger Park. We have assembled in the last few years to help make renovations to the skate park with help of the City and Borough of Juneau and other fine groups like the Local Union 1281 Carpenters Union. Our goal is to improve our Skate Park to help motivate the youth of Juneau.

Our recent achievement was the demolition and reconstruction of two ramps in March 2016 with Local Union 1281 helping out. Our sites are now set on raising $5,000 by mid-August to reconstruct another section of the Pipleline Skate Park.

Along with fundraising for these additional ramp reconstructions, other work on improving Pipeline Skate Park is in the works. The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has taken the lead to buy supplies to build a much needed French drain to protect the foundation of the skate park from water damage. We plan to have volunteers dig the ditch around the Pipeline so the French ditch can be filled in with the proper material. This will drain water away from the structure protecting the concrete foundation and wood structure.

As important as both of these projects are, we’re also trying to raise $10,000 to repair the leaks in the roof.

So the total we hope you will help us raise is $15,000. Then we will combine these funds with some excellent volunteers, to bring the Pipeline Skate Park up to the quality park it can be.

I hope you can be part of many great things we are doing to help improve a great facility for our youth.

Sonny Pittman, Skate Board Volunteer

Pipeline Skate Park was built in 1996 with the assistance of the Juneau Douglas High School Phoenix Program. The 7,500 square foot covered facility supports skateboarding and in-line skating and is located at 2400 Mendenhall Loop Road.
