Jacqueline (Jackie) is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Tlingit Haida Regional Housing Authority (THRHA) and Haa Yaḵaawu Financial Corporation. Kus. Een is her Tlingit name, and she is a member of the Lukaax.ádi (Raven/Sockeye) Clan from Haines, Alaska. Before her appointment at THRHA in April 2019, Jackie served as the Executive Director of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) in Washington, DC, the oldest and largest American Indian and Alaska Native advocacy organization in the United States (2001-2019). Before that, Jackie served as Deputy Director of the Office of Native American Programs in the US Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, implementing the Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act, and Executive Director of THRHA (1989-1998).
Jackie also serves as the 1st Vice President for Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska, and is a member of the investment and audit committees, as well as chairs the Assembly’s Governmental Affairs committee.
Currently, Jackie serves as Co-Chair of the Secretary of HUD’s Tribal Advisory Council, President of Goldbet Heritage Foundation, board member/governance committee chair of the National American Indian
Housing Council, member/governance committee chair for Juneau Tlingit Haida Community Council, a member of USA Lacrosse Native American Advisory Council, board member for Women Empowering Women for
Indigenous Nations (WEWIN), and a board member of the Caroline and Ora Smith Foundation.
