Marjorie Menzi is a retired educator. She earned her M.A.from Columbia University and served for 15 years as the Social Studies Specialist for the AK Department of Education. She worked as Program Director for the AK Close-Up Program, Legislative Aide for the House Community & Regional Affairs Committee, aide for Lt. Governor Fran Ulmer and as a Program Director for the AK Humanities Forum. She has served on the boards of the League of Women Voters of Alaska, Juneau Planning Commission, League of Women Voters of Juneau (President), Catholic Community Service and Friends of the AK State Library, Archives & Museum (President).

Marjorie raised her five (Gorsuch) children and two stepchildren and she and her husband, Bill Heumann, have twelve grandchildren. Over the past 17 years, between work responsibilities, she and Bill have circumnavigated on their sailboat.
