Monica joined the team at Juneau Community Foundation as Program Manager in February 2024. As the Program Manager, she primarily handles the many grants and scholarships that the Foundation oversees.

Born and raised in Juneau, Monica grew up running around downtown and the far reaches of many of the trails Juneau has to offer. She taught as a Montessori Preschool teacher here in Juneau and most recently in Seattle. Although she taught for almost 15 years, she initially received a BFA in Studio Arts from Humboldt State University and later studied at Columbia University in NYC. Her artistry remains a central focus in her life.

Upon returning to Juneau in 2022, her love for the arts, early education, and commitment to her hometown led her to
the Juneau Community Foundation.

In her spare time, Monica is painting in her art studio and spending time with her partner, Carmine, and their dog, Ramona.
