Samia joined the Juneau Community Foundation in May 2026 after more than two decades working throughout Southeast Alaska for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. As the District Conservationist in the Juneau Field Office, she worked directly with private landowners, nonprofit organizations, tribes, community leaders, and resource agencies to develop and implement conservation projects, and helped establish forest partnerships in Hoonah, Kake, and on Prince of Wales Island that integrated habitat restoration, workforce development, and economic opportunities based on local priorities. Her enthusiasm for contributing to sustainable, vibrant communities led her to the Juneau Community Foundation. She and her husband have lived in Juneau for nearly 25 years, raising two daughters with a love of the outdoors and a strong sense of community service. Skiing – all kinds! – is a favorite pastime, along with trail running, hiking, fishing, and gardening.
